Based on my purchase experience of classical music CDs and DVDs for years, I would like to point out how to make CDs and DVDs more searchable and understandable on Amazons.

Many goods are perfectly named and tagged, yet more goods are not. Before purchasing, I have to study about a good through other Amazons in other countries, moreover through google ; I suppose that this kind of load becomes a bottle neck at other purchasers' action also.

Because I am just a customer, thus I don't know the system how labels and sellers put information on Amazon server. Because of it, some of my suggestions may be not workable or effective.

General Issue:
When a goods have none or less of information, let say none or less about composer' name or performer's name, purchasers can not search the goods by Amazon's searching engine. You may imagine a disorderly shelving book shop or a book with its cover faded away and with no index pages. In such a situation, how can a customer find the good is for him/herself.
Correctness is also important. If a Beethoven's CD tagged as Bethoven, the CD becomes unsearchable, possibly forever.
You should not consider that purchasers can have enough information through the jacket pictures because that recently package design is changed in short cycle, and because that at least at this moment, Amazon's searching engine hit the items considering the text information.

Specific Items:

1. The Title:
i. It is better to put the name of composer(s) and work(s) as much as you can. For the case of box-set of many discs, to note the all of such information is too long and impossible; you have to note the most important ones. The Person in charge should be very familiar with classical music.

ex.
Beethoven&Schubert:Sonatas ---> Beethoven: Piano Sonatas No.xxx Op.xxx, / Schubert: Piano Sonatas D.xxx, D.XXX

Qts str ---> W.A.Mozart: String Quartets No.xxx - No.xxx

ii. It is better to show what is complete

ex.1
Complete Piano Trios ---> Brahms : Complete Piano Trios

ex.2
Complete Recordings ---> David Oistrakh(Violin) Complete Recordings

ex.3
Complete Works ---> Niccolò Paganini:Complete Works

2. Name of Composers:
i. It is better to show his/her full names and put "composer" in its tail. Everybody knows that Mozart is the Mozart, yet how about Hanns Eisler?

ex.
W.A.Mozart ---> Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(Composer)
Eisler ---> Hanns Eisler(Composer)

3. Name of Performers:
i. It is better to show by his/her full names and put his/her profession in its tail. As time passes, performers with same family name gradually increase.

ex.
Oistrakh ---> David Oistrakh(violin) or Igor Oistrakh(violin)

ii. Especially about orchestras, string quartets, and other groups, it is better not to omit its name. Omitted names varies ; purchasers do not know all the way of omitting. If a group is not from English-speaking countries, the official english description also should be tagged.

ex.
BPO ---> Both "Berliner Philharmoniker" and "Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra"

LaSalle SQ ---> LaSalle String Quartet

4. Track Information:
i. Most of goods has no track information. In the case, how customers know about the contents? And who purchase a good without knowing its contents? On Amazon pages, some customers thankfully note track information through his/her reviews, however, those reviews has no relation with Amazon's search engine.

ii. Many classical music CDs or DVDs conclude several works of several composers. Information of each track should refer the name of composer and the title of the work. In many cases, only musical terminology on tempo and mood, such as "Allegro", "Adagio", "Presto" etc, are shown, however, those words will not tell about the composer and the work. Only a few purchaser may guess ; they are really few, I believe.

ex.
1. Allegro Moderato/Moderato Assai ---> Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto in Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, 1st movement Allegro Moderato/Moderato Assai
2. Andante --->Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto in Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, 2nd movement Andante
3. Allegro Vivacissimo ---> Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto in Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, 3rd movement Allegro Vivacissimo
4. Allegro Non Troppo ---> Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, Op.77, 1st movement Allegro Non Troppo
5. Adagio --->Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, Op.77, 2nd movement Adagio
6. Allegro Giocoso, Ma Non Troppo Vivace/Poco Piu Presto ---> Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, Op.77, 3rd movement Allegro Giocoso, Ma Non Troppo Vivace/Poco Piu Presto

iii. In the case of the album of Pop music, all the detail track information should be available for customers because each track consists of one separate song. In the case of that of classical music, it is not like that, usually a work is divided in several tracks. If you feel it is too hard to put all of the track information, you can make it not track-by-track, but work-by-work ; it is better than none. When a movement is missing or a performer only recorded a specific part of a work, please don't forget to mention about it.

ex.
1.Bruckner: Symphony No.4 1st movement ---> 1.Bruckner: Symphony No.4 in E-flat major
2.Bruckner: Symphony No.4 2nd movement
3.Bruckner: Symphony No.4 3rd movement
4.Bruckner: Symphony No.4 4th movement
5.Bruckner: Symohony No.5 2nd movement ---> 2.Bruckner: Symphony No.5 in B-flat major(1st movement is missing)
6.Bruckner: Symohony No.5 3rd movement
7.Bruckner: Symohony No.6 4th movement

5. Pictures of Jackets:
Pictures of Jackets has no relation with Amazon's searching engine, yet, it is shown on the page of searching result. It is needless to say that customers would like to know how the items to purchase look. A picture of back side with certain resolution will also help customer to know the detail of contents which are not on database.

6. DVD:
Region code and NTSC/Pal must be correctly informed.

7. The Others:
Number of discs must be correctly informed. Recently there are many budget box sets ; I believe, the cost per disc influences on customer's decision.

To Labels and Artists

1. Name and Searchability
As you know, searchability is now very important, yet your artists' name varies in many ways in each countries. I suppose that the list of spelling by major languages should be officially announced by labels or artists.

2. The Year of Recording
The information of the year of recording is sometimes very important for classical music fan at selecting. Considering current Amazon's page design, the information can be put in the part of "Album Description".
